Putting on the polyurethane
Finally! The wood is done and ready to be poly'd. I chose to polyurethane the wood for two reasons... first, it's a lighter wood and I didnt want to darken the look any, so I wanted a more "amber" look to the pitch. Light wood really works well with polyurethane and I wouldnt have to worry about staining AND poly'ing the pitch. Second, I had half a can of polyurethane left at my place from my landlord, so it didn't cost me anything. :)
Here is the pitch before being treated.

Using a foam brush (kudos to my buddy for telling me to use one of these before I potentially destroyed the project by using a bristle brush), I went through and covered the entire pitch. Here's the final result.

Finally, a closeup of one of the corners. The poly was still only about 10 minutes old when I took this picture, so it still looks pretty wet.
